Currently all but one of my clients are on QuickBooks Online (QBO). The one outlier is on QuickBooks desktop. However, I have prior experience with other automated systems.

QuickBooks Online is a flexible, remote access system that is constantly evolving. It is eminently teachable. It is a subscription service, with several levels of sophistication, making it adaptable to many small to medium size businesses.

Currently all my clients are remote. This became the norm during COVID and provided a means to take care of an ailing elderly parent while still being employed on a full-time basis.
I am willing to travel occasionally (locally) if needed, though many times video calls (Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.) are enough to meet the need. The benefit to video meetings is we can each be at our own computer but can screen share when necessary.

In my experience, unless someone is replacing a prior employee, the hunt for a bookkeeper/accountant is created because either the business owner is losing valuable time doing accounting work that is not their specialty, or there is no accounting system in place, or there is an accounting system in place, but it is currently either very behind or not working correctly. Several times clients have been a year or more behind in their tax filings and the stress has hit a critical stage. Sometimes these clients who have no current system just have a box or boxes of paperwork in no particular order. (Accountants and bookkeepers call these "shoebox" jobs.)

My current hourly rate is below the industry average and will be quoted upon request. Billing is monthly and payment expected timely. If payment is not received by 60 days after billing, work will be suspended until payment received. If the job requires catching up a large volume of transactions a retainer may be required up front for the first 10 or 20 hours of work depending on size of the job. A client may also pay 10 or more hours up front and receive a discount of 10% on those hours.

When I first started my own business and was brainstorming for names, my mother (who had a master's degree in business and many years of office experience) came up with the name. It is a play on words. The English translation of my last name is "knight" and when I began it was a side business and the work was done at night and on weekends.
